We are excited for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County to be our beneficiary for the 2020-2021 school year! This local chapter serves nearly 700 youth throughout Dane County and is part of the national Big Brothers Big Sisters of America philanthropic organization. They seek to match adult volunteers, or “Bigs”, up with “Littles” to serve as their mentors, providing them long-term and consistent mentorship. The majority of their Littles are youth of color that often come from low-income families, single-parent households, or have an incarcerated parent. Their two main programs are School Friends and Community-based. In School Friends, Bigs 18+ volunteer in the Dane County schools, spending time with their Little once a week throughout the school year. In the Community-based program, Bigs aged 21+ go on weekly outings and do fun activities with their Littles in the community. In the challenging times of the current pandemic, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County continues to search for ways to build positive relationships between the Bigs and Littles in a safe way.
Your contribution will help Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County achieve their mission of creating and supporting one-on-one relationships that ignite the promise and power of youth. With the funds donated from Humorology, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County seeks to offer group mentoring for their Littles, create specialized programming for youth entering middle and high school, implement anti-racism and allyship training for their Bigs, and expand and diversify the recruitment of their volunteers. We are so excited to be a part of this journey with them, and we hope you are too!
